21 fallow deer and their cubs are at risk of being slaughtered in Novara

They are destined for slaughter because they have become a burden for the owner but a non-profit organization is trying to save them

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

They are destined for slaughter because they have become a burden for the owner. They could all have already been killed, as had happened to other similar ones, but luckily some fallow deer found on their way the volunteers of the Miletta Refuge, a non-profit organization based in Agrate Conturbia (Novara) that deals with rights of animals and that manages the sanctuary of the same name and a center for the recovery of wildlife. But their life hangs by a thread.

It was November 23 when volunteers were contacted to stop a carnage of fallow deer on a private property.

“Arrived we see three men, one is armed, and on the ground there are the bodies of 7 young fallow deer with their throats cut. Further on we see the rest of the herd; the survivors huddle together, terrified. We scream, we shout at them to stop with all the anger that such a scene can arouse in empathically healthy people. Moments of excitement follow, but in the end the heir (the fallow deer belonged to his uncle) stops the massacre by explaining to us that, wanting to sell the property, he first had to eliminate the animals and this was the only possible way, having the uncle obtained the 'authorization for their detention as "breeding of wildlife for food" "they explain in a post on Facebook.

So they offer to host the fallow deer, promising that the Miletta Refuge would take care of all the expenses for their transfer and that it would take care of finding the right structure to host them.

The man accepts the offer but the bureaucracy has made the fate of the poor animals more difficult. The Province in fact denies this possibility, explaining that

"Rifugio Miletta does not have the authorization as a breeding of wildlife for food".

But there is a glimmer. Volunteers have the green light to find an authorized facility. For the 21 surviving fallow deer, all mothers with their daughters, it seemed done but on January 3 comes the blow: their owner changes his mind and decides to send the animals to the slaughterhouse.

But the organization did not give up and made the story public on social media asking the heir to choose the only acceptable solution: do not kill.

Today the fallow deer are still alive but their fate is still uncertain:

“It is not enough for us to have the fallow deer moved to another wildlife farm for food, as they would be slaughtered there too. We want them to be transferred to a facility, authorized by the Province as a breeding of wildlife for food, but which guarantees their maintenance until their natural death.
The Miletta Refuge has identified a private person who would like and could take care of the 21 fallow deer by providing a land of about one and a half hectares.
Let's not turn off the spotlight on the affair, sharing the video of the complaint until we are guaranteed to have saved all the animals ".

But a few hours ago good news came. The association carried out an inspection, together with the Province of Novara and the veterinary services of the ASL, at the structure identified from the beginning of the affair for the transfer of the surviving fallow deer. Both authorities gave a favorable opinion on the transfer of the animals.

"Now only the will of the heir is missing", the organization continues.

We have just returned from the inspection, carried out together with the Province of Novara, also the councilor Maurizio present ...

We hope that man gives his approval, saving the lives of the poor animals, which otherwise would be killed in cold blood.

In our own small way we can support the organization and ensure that the story of the fallow deer is talked about as much as possible!
