10 hens on the run: the video of the liberation of Animal Nemesis

From cages to freedom. From being objects to being free individuals. They had cropped beaks, whitish ridges due to vitamin deficiencies. They lived a life of captivity and exploitation spent in a shed without even being able to imagine what is in the outside world. But they were lucky and found freedom, forever removed from the state of slavery to which human beings had relegated them. There are 10 laying hens freed by the activists of Animal Nemesis, who were in a farm for the production of battery eggs with the so-called "enriched cages".

From cages to freedom. From being objects to being free individuals. They had cropped beaks, whitish ridges due to vitamin deficiencies. They lived one life of imprisonment and exploitation spent in a shed without even being able to imagine what is in the outside world. But they were lucky and they have found freedom, removed forever from the state of slavery in which human beings had relegated them. I'm 10 laying hens released by activists from Animal nemesis , which were located in a breeding farm for the production of eggs in battery with the so-called "enriched cages".

According to European legislation in force since 2012st January XNUMX, this type of farms would be the solution to meet the needs of the animals, with a few more square centimeters available and useless racks. In reality, the imprisonment to which millions of living beings are condemned for the production of eggs is the same. Even the so-called open-air and organic farms are nothing more than a deception: they are sheds with very small external fences in which the hens are only let out periodically, the only difference lies in the food that is given to them (organic), and their life ends in any case on a truck headed for the slaughterhouse, as demonstrated by theinvestigation of Being animals, carried out in 27 farms in Emilia Romagna, which exposed this great bluff .

Now, though, these 10 chickens, with a happy ending story similar to that of another 20 released last October by the British Hen Welfare Trust and housed in HM Holloway Prison , they are in a magnificent place and can finally get to know that world that humans want to continue to deprive animals of. They will be able to live in contact with water, wind, sun, earth, trees and many other animals. But unfortunately all the others still prisoners, they will suffer the fate that every farm foresees for them after a life spent plucking and hurting each other due to the overcrowded conditions: the slaughterhouse.

"Anyone who has really had an encounter with a captive individual, - explains Animal Nemesis - anyone who has touched his limbs paralyzed by terror and confusion, anyone who has met his eyes longing for freedom, his cries of desire for a mother or a family, its paws eager for a boundless meadow, its skin eager to warm itself in the sun, will never be able to think of granting anyone the consent to the imprisonment of living beings in exchange for a few more centimeters in the cage ".

So, if today it is to enter a farm and save animals considered a crime, or even an act of terrorism, as in the US, the fact of publicly claiming the freedom of these animals through their food choices can become "a spark for social change, a gesture of civil disobedience against an obvious injustice", explains Animal Nemesis. Because animals are not objects, they don't have to live in a cage and they don't have to be considered as products or production machines. Animals must be free.
