Hero: Randy Wells (5-10) was working on a three-hitter when he allowed a leadoff homer to Cincinnati's Drew Stubbs in the eighth inning. Stubbs had just two hits in his previous 39 at-bats. Wells allowed three runs - all earned - on five hits in seven-plus innings. The right-hander struck out three and walked two.
