Dodgers 7, Cubs 3

By Chris Rewers on Sunday, April 24, 2011

Hero: A slimmer Justin Berg made his 2011 debut and set down the Dodgers in order in the seventh inning.

Goat: Carlos Zambrano's (2-1) 10-game winning streak finally came to an end after he allowed the first five Los Angeles batters to reach base and score. Zambrano, whose previous loss came last June 25 against the White Sox at Comiskey Park, allowed six runs - all earned - on eight hits in five innings while striking out four and walking none.

Key Play: The Cubs (10-11) mounted a comeback against Los Angeles starter Hiroki Kuroda (3-2) in the bottom of the first. They had scored twice and had runners at second and third with two outs when Alfonso Soriano struck out to end the inning.

Comments: Zambrano appeared in his 300th game with the Cubs and made his 263rd start with the team, which moved him into ninth place on the franchise's all-time games started list, passing Larry Corcoran (1880-85). ... Shortstop Starlin Castro (his fourth of the season) and second baseman Darwin Barney (his second) committed errors for the Cubs.

Next: The Cubs send Matt Garza (0-2, 4.74 ERA) to the mound against right-hander Esmil Rogers (2-1, 6.75) Monday (CSN, 7:05 p.m.) when they open a three-game series against the first-place Colorado Rockies (14-7).
