Cubs 4, Diamondbacks 2

By Chris Rewers on Friday, April 29, 2011

Hero: Alfonso Soriano smashed two solo home runs. It was the 27th career multi-home run game for Soriano, who leads the Cubs (11-14) with nine long balls.

Goat: Although Kosuke Fukudome went 0-for-5 with two strikeouts, he is still hitting .418.

Key Play: Soriano led off the seventh with a tie-breaking homer to right-center off Arizona starter Armando Galarraga (3-2).

Comments: Carlos Zambrano (3-1) served up a two-run homer to Justin Upton in the first inning but settled down to win his ninth straight road game. Zambrano allowed four hits in six innings while striking out two and walking three. ... Geovany Soto followed Soriano's home run in the fifth with a game-tying blast. It was Soto's second home run of the season.

Next: Matt Garza (0-3, 4.11 ERA) will try for that elusive first win as a Cub on Saturday (CSN, 7:10 p.m.) when he opposes Arizona right-hander Ian Kennedy (3-1, 4.02 ERA). Kennedy struck out 10 en route to a complete-game shutout against Philadelphia in his last start.
