Hero: Marcos Mateo struck out two during a 1-2-3 seventh and was the only Cubs pitcher to retire Prince Fielder.

Goat: Matt Garza (0-1) allowed five earned runs on eight hits in 5 2/3 innings while striking out eight and walking three. He allowed three doubles. to Fielder - all on 0-and-2 counts.

Key Play: Ryan Braun's RBI double in the first inning gave Milwaukee a 1-0 lead in the first inning.

Comments: Garza has allowed 20 hits in 12 2/3 innings. ... Brewers starter Chris Narveson (1-0) struck out nine over seven innings.

Next: Casey Coleman makes his season debut Sunday (WGN, 1:10) while Milwaukee counters with ace Yovani Gallardo (1-0, 1.20), who pitched a complete-game two hit shutout his last time out.
