Hero: Tyler Colvin, who entered the game hitting just .115, but homered in the seventh and doubled in the ninth.

Carlos ZanGoat: James Russell (1-1) wasn't up to the task his first major league start (1 2/3 IP, 7 H, 5 R, 4 ER, 0 BB, SO) but he was not helped by the defense behind him.

Key Play: Houston was already leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first when Bill Hall delivered a two-run single off Russell.

Comment: In seven innings, Houston starter Brett Myers (1-0) allowed one run on eight hits with no walks and five strikeouts

Next: Carlos Zambrano (1-0, 5.25 ERA) will try for his 10th straight win Wednesday (WGN, 7:05 p.m.) when the Cubs (5-6) try to salvage the three-game series against Wandy Rodriguez (0-1, 6.55). .
