Silva Rehab Start Scheduled in Peoria
Joe Girardi and his first-place New York Yankees will be in town to play the White Sox and the Cubs will be visiting the first-place Cincinnati Reds on Friday. But, if you'd prefer to make a short road trip, the Class A Peoria Chiefs will be hosting the Cedar Rapids Kernels. And Carlos Silva will be their starting pitcher.
Silva, who has been on the 15-day disabled list since Aug. 1 and underwent a surgical procedure to cure an abnormal heart rate, will start for the Chiefs in the Midwest League game Friday (6:30 p.m.) at O'Brien Field.
The 31-year-old right-hander, who was acquired in exchange for Milton Bradley in a trade last offseason with the Seattle Mariners, is 10-5 with a 3.92 ERA in 20 starts with the Cubs this season.
Silva began the season 8-0, but is just 1-2 with an 11.37 ERA in three starts since the All-Star break.
