Will Diamond Take Our Minds Off Cubs' Wrinkles?
The Cubs announced Saturday that Thomas Diamond was purchased from Triple A Iowa and added to the team's 40-man roster. He will replace the departed Ted Lilly in the starting rotation.

Rockies 6, Cubs 5
Hero: Derrek Lee hit a two-out three-run homer off Colorado's Rafael Betancourt to tie the game at 5. It was the 12th home run of the season for Lee who earlier in the week exercised his "Five-and-10" right to reject a trade to the Los Angeles Angels.

Rockies 17, Cubs 2
Hero: James Russell allowed one hit struck out three, and walked none in two shutout innings of relief.

Cubs fans are apparently finding better ways to spend their time than watching an underachieving fourth-place ballclub that is 10 games below .500.

Astros 8, Cubs 1
Hero: Ryan Theriot went 3-for-4 to account for half of the Cubs' hits and scored their only run.

Astros 6, Cubs 1
Hero: Ted Lilly, if he is traded later this week, had the best final two outings by a Cubs pitcher before being dealt since Steve Trout in 1987. But Lilly had nothing to show for his efforts.

Cubs 5, Astros 2
Hero: Carlos Silva (10-4) rebounded after back-to-back horrible outings to reach double figures in wins for the first time since 2007 when he earned 13 victories for the Minnesota Twins. Silva allowed one (earned) run on five hits in five innings while walking one and striking out four.
