03.31.08 Opening Day
Section 436 Row 9 Seat 108
Well, I'm back for another season of posting my photographs from the random games I attend and lucky for you I went to Opening Day. The weather was iffy, the game started 45 minutes late and had one rain delay. When it wasn't raining it was a good day for baseball. I hope you enjoy the pictures and if you can't make the games at least get a feel for what is going on up on the north side.
Lots of Ernie Banks recognition today as Ernie would still like to play two. Ernie gets top billing on the famous marquee.
The exterior has new bricks installed
The new statute of Mr. Cub was unveiled today to great fanfare. This is a really sweet statue statue to see in person and the unveiling ceremony was cool with special words from Hank Aaron, Billy Williams and Ron Santo.
Flying the NIU flag to honor the students killed in the tragic shooting this winter.
Opening the opening day Old Style (heavy)
The new field looks good, even though the weather has not been cooperating. Seems to handle the water pretty well.
Rain did not dampen the spirits of those manning the bleachers for Opening Day.
Everything is for sale at Wrigley Field (Is it still called Wrigley Field?). Looks like someone broke in and spraypainted the brick wall.
The new fan favorite gets a rousing roar as he ran out on the field.
The Mighty Fukudome was worth the price of admission today and before he even took a pitch he got a standing ovation to welcome him to Chicago. If he keeps having days like today, he will continue to be the fan favorite.
Rain delay makes for a long day.
I wonder if Corey Hart wears his sunglasses at night? Today's overcast day did not call for sunglasses.
Not good times when the Big Z has to leave with forearm cramps. Has he been e-mailing his brother too much again?
More love for Mr. Cub.

Love the last photo- in particular the 10th Indian's purple backpack at the end of the bench. :-D
The purple backpack is the usually for bullben snacks and is carried by the junior member of the bullpen. I would imagine Carmen Pignatiello has the honors right now.
Also nice to see that the prime new Chicago Board Options Exchange seats were full of die-hard, appreciative fans. Oh, wait a second... a half dozen of the best seats in the house sat empty...
Anyone want to sponsor some seats in their Options Initiative & Hedge Fund Strategies and Portfolio Protection seminars so we can no-show also? Maybe blame it on the rain? That'll show 'em.
I actually should have snapped a picture of how empty the park got after the shelling of Wood. A lot of people that waited out a delayed start and a rain delay, got up and left after the top of the 9th and missed the Fukudome fireworks and the 10th inning.
