2006 Essay
I've (finally) finished my annual essay, this year titled Why We Might Bother. Just ahead of my deadline of opening day. It's not so much about baseball as it is armchair philosophy about life more generally. It's a longer piece of writing, but hopefully there's something in there worth reading. Enjoy!

I enjoyed it! I think with the hype in Chicago this year about the Cubs at what seems to me like a complete lull, I for the first time in a long while am looking forward to something different. Not to go see the Cubs play, but just to be able to go back to Wrigley and enjoy a game. I think it has to do with finally letting go the high hopes of the Wood, Prior, Sosa, and Dusty era. Simple put, I'm craving baseball at Wrigley. Only 6 more days and I'll have a beer in my hand looking out to the scoreboard in center.
